Mumbai, 28 Oct: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road, here, presented Konkani play, Aankvaar Mestri, by legendary playwright Cha Fra D Costa and staged by Christy Neenasam and his theater group Astitva from Mangaluru, directed by Denis Monteiro at Mira Road parish hall, here on Saturday, October 27.
Konkani theater lovers were found glued to the show from the beginning till the last. The actors indeed enthralled the gathering with their superb acting.
During the interval, parish priest Fr Melvyn D Cunha, Association president Diego Rodrigues, secretary Gerald D Souza, treasurer Lawrence Mathias, cultural secretary Jossy Gonsalves were present on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Melvyn urged the people to teach Konkani to their children and all should watch and encourage such dramas whenever they get such opportunities.
Meanwhile, he honored the main sponsor of this drama Antony Pereira and all the sponsors and well wishers by offering them flower bouquets.
St Joseph’s Konkani Association felicitated Christy Ninasam with a shawl and director Denis Monteiro and Clanvin Fernandes with flower bouquets.
The viewers were joyous to view the play throughout and left the venue happy because even after 40 years, the play ‘Anvkaar Mestri’ is still relevant to the present times.
Christy and his theater group sought feedback from the views. A viewer said, ‘A drama with such a wonderful acting, clear sound and clean Konkani language was seen for the first time in Mira Road.’ Another viewers said, ‘We should thank the Association for such a clean beautiful drama and awaiting to similar good dramas from this team.’
