Mangaluru: Meet Lilly Pinto, gardening enthusiast living in old tiled house at Karangalapady

Mangaluru, 25 Oct: There are rare breed of people who love gardening and lush greenery thrives in their homes in fast developing Mangaluru city. Meet Lilly Pinto who lives in an old tiled house at Karangalapady, here, amidst high rising buildings. Her husband, Captain Aloysius Pinto is a pilot trainer. Lilly’s garden has hundreds of varieties of plants that bloom throughout the year.

 

 

I have gone to visit my ancestral home nearby the home of Tekkunje Gopalakrishna Bhat at Karangalapady, here, when I met Lilly, the new owner of this home, who has changed the landscape of the house with lush greenery in 10 years.

 

Her garden is a delight to those who love gardening that is therapeutic and soothing the nerves. She has innovatively organized the pots in all available spaces that are artistic also.

 

 

Hundreds of varieties of flowers adore from the entrance gate and all over the house. She is generous to give branches of plants that she had planted in small plastic bags for replanting. She has organized an exhibition-cum-sale of plants on October 7 from 8.30am to 1.00pm. She shared her gardening tips with the visitors.
