Udupi: New office bearers of Lions Club, Moodubelle installed by Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio

Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Jul 2018: New office bearers of Lions Club, Moodubelle were installed on Monday, 16 July 2018 in  the installation function held at Lions Seva Bhavan. Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio, Regional Chairman of Region I conducted the installation ceremony.

 

The chief new office bearers who took charge of the Lions Club, Moodubelle for the year 2018-19 are: Ln. Ivan D’Almeida-President; Ln. Joseph Martis-Secretary; Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Treasurer. They took charge from the outgoing  team  of Ln. Gerald Fernandes-President; Ln. Henry Fernandes-Secretary and Ln. Vinod Castelino-Treasurer.

 

The new office bearers of Leo Club are: Leo  Sharlin D’Almeida-President; Leo Karthik Shetty-Secretary and Mackwin Martin-Treasurer.

 

Lns. Avani Patel introduced the chief guest Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio. Other guests of honour included: PDG Ln. Prof. Wilfred D’Souza; Ln. Sashi Kumar Shetty-Regional Chairman and Leo Sashtra Shetty-District Leo President.

 

In his address prior to the installation ceremony, Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio traced his roots to Moodubelle and said that he was happy to be the chief guest at the installation function of new office bearers. He also highlighted the importance of the Lions Club International in social and humanitarian work.

 

On this occasion two  physically challenged youth from Karkala were given financial assistance as part of the service activity of the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

 

Meritorious students who had scored highest marks in the last SSLC and PUC public examinations were honoured. Children of the Lions Club members who had scored distinction marks were also felicitated.

 

Sr. Irene Viegas, Headmistress of Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School received symbolically free uniform sponsored by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

Mukunda Kamath, businessman of Moodubelle and Keshav, Forest Department Guard were honoured during the function.

 

Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA from the Kaup Constituency was also honoured on this occasion.

 

Ln. Gerald Fernandes, the outgoing President of the Lions Club of Moodubelle was felicitated for his to the Lions Club.

 

Leo Sashtra Shetty, PDG Ln. Prof. Wilfred D’Souza and Ln. Sashi Kumar Shetty delivered felicitation messages.

 

L. Gerald Fernandes welcomed the guests; Ln. Joseph Martis proposed the vote of thanks and Ln. Devdas Hebbar compeered the programme.
