Udupi, 04 Jul 2018: The district NSUI organized workshop on drug abuse at St Cicelies PU College, here, on Monday, July 2.
Dr P V Bhandary, psychiatrist and chief of Dr A V Baliga Hospital was the resource person said, ‘There has been spike in cases of drug abuse, mainly in cities and towns, where youth are addicted to drugs that is leading to cancer and destabilises the self esteem of addicts. The need of the hour is to shun all drugs to create healthy society,’ said Dr Bhandary.
NSUI national secretary Rahul said, ’Now-a-days, more youth are addicted to drugs who are destroying their future that causes untold miseries to their families. None should hook on to drugs for a few minutes of ecstasy. The general awareness events rigorously done can make a difference in bringing home the perils of drug abuse,’ said Rahul.
St Cicelies PU College principal Sr Grace, NSUI Karnataka secretary Farouq, Udupi district president Kristen D’Almeida, students’ council office bearers Nabeel Udyavar, Neeraj Patil, Harshit Acharya, Vishak, Nitesh, Devdas and others were present.
