Udupi, 16 Mar 2018: The donating blood is a noble deed to save precious lives. The students should set an example by voluntarily donating blood out of humanity, said Major Professor Pascal D’Sa, retired lecturer and instrumental in launching blood camp.
Professor Pascal was speaking during the silver jubilee celebration of Blood Camp that was organized by St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here, in collaboration with Lions Club, Shirva – Manchakal, Blood Bank – KMC Manipal, health Committee of Our Lady of Good Health parish, Shirva, NSS, Rangers, Rovers unit, students union and PG department of St Mary’s College, on Thursday, March 15.
In his presidential address, Fr Stany Tauro, correspondent of St Mary’s education institutions, Shirva, said that blood has distinction of caste, creed and faith. He also congratulated the students’ community for organizing blood camp since the past 25 years at the College.
Fr Stany felicitated Major Professor Pascal who was instrumental in organizing the blood camp since the past 25 years in collaboration with social welfare organizations.
KMC – Manipal Dr Ishita Garg, St Mary’s College principal Professor Rajan V N, Lions Club – Shirva president Julian Rodrigues also spoke on the occasion.
ZP member Wilson Rodrigues, Shirva parish council vice president Wilson D’Souza, Youth Red Cross Cell director Professor Ratnavati Leena Ferrao, Assistant Professor Nirmita Kumari, Professor Jagdish Acharya was present.
The College students welfare officer Dr Padmanabha Bhat welcomed the gathering. Lions Club – Shirva secretary Melvyn Aranha proposed vote of thanks. Shreya Acharya compered the programme.
Over 175 students voluntarily donated their blood.
