Mumbai, 13 Mar 2018: Mahila Dakshata Samiti, Kurla, here, celebrated International Women’s Day at Pillai Chowk, near City Hospital, Kurla, here, at the leadership Anita Shetty, on March 8.
Event began with lighting the lamp by family members from a small girl to an elderly woman.
Mumtaz Maqsood Ahmed Kazi, Manali Ramachandra Gawali, Stella Rosario, Minal Sanjay Turde, Roma Khan, Yvonne Mark D’Souza, Rajni Chandrakant Pednekar, Masrat Khan, Devika Monteiro, Lalita Pandit and Ophelia Simon Gomes from across greater Mumbai were honoured for their social service on the same occasion.
The chief guest Bharat Bhoite, senior police inspector of Vinoba Behave Police Station congratulated all Women. He said, ‘Gender equality is the first step to bring women empowerment. We should not understand that women are made only to handle household chores or to take responsibility of home and family. Instead, both (men and women) are responsible for everything of daily routine. Men should take care of women and cooperate with them for their career and other needs. Women should also identify their strengths and abilities and move towards a world of empowerment. On the event of this Women’s Day, let us all promise to create a better world to live in.’
The guest of honour Jean Gomes congratulated all the women and appreciated the hard works put by the president Anitha Shetty and honoured her with a flower bouquet.
Other guest of honours were Emretta Bhutello, Arshad Azmi (corporator) and Afroz Mallik.
Arshad Azmi, congratulated all the Awardees and urged them to continue with their social work and be a role model to the needy and less fortunate. He said he is very proud to announce that India is the first Country where we can see much social workers than other countries.
President Anita Shetty thanked one and all for supporting this event.
The women from different Mahila zones entertained the crowd by their dance and singing.
