Mangaluru, 19 Sep 2017: Kavita Trust in association with Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) organized Konkani poetry recitation competition at Don Bosco Hall, here, on Sunday, September 17.
The competition was inaugurated by Fr Derryl Fernandes (capuchin), Editor of Sevak monthly along with Kavita Trust president Melvyn Rodrigues, KNS vice president Sunil Menezes, general secretary Judith D’Souza and convenor Treeza Pinto.
The competition was held in three categories - below 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.
Vencita Dias of Angelore parish bagged the first prize, Aldon Vinoy D’Souza of Bajpe parish bagged the second prize and Chrisel Treeza D’Souza of Milagres parish bagged the third prize in the category of below 15 years.
Prewita D’Souza of Gurpur parish bagged the first prize, Amlin D’Souza of Angelore parish bagged the second prize and Jizal D’Souza of Milagres parish bagged the third prize in the category of 15 to 30 years.
Adellaide D’Sa of Bejai parish bagged the first prize, Irene Mendonca of Cascia parish bagged second prize and Norman D’Souza of Cascia parish bagged the third prize in the above 30 years category.
Kavita Trust distributed certificates and poetry books to all the participants. Drama Writer Richie Pereira, Dramatist Alwyn Pinto was also present.
William Pais, Averyl Rodrigues and Andrew L D’Cunha were the jury members.
Fr Derryl Fernandes (Capurchin) welcomed the gathering. Vitori Karkala compered the programme. Kavita Trust® president Melvyn Rodrigues announced the results and Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks.
