Boston, 08 Sep 2017: Mangalorean Catholic Association of New England (MCANE) in collaboration with Belle Vision USA celebrated the Solemn feast of Nativity of our Blessed Mother on 3rd Sept 2017 at St Mary’s Church, Chelmsford MA. This event was especially memorable, as it marked the 10th anniversary of Monti Fest Celebrations in New England, highlighting the unity of Mangaloreans in promoting our culture.The growth of the Mangalorean community in the New England area by leaps and bounds this past decade is remarkable. Attendees hailed from the Mangalorean community not only from New England, but also from the Tri state area.
The celebrations kicked off with singing the hymn Sakkad Sangatha Melyan, accompanied by flower offerings to the infant Mary. The group then processed to the main Church to partake in a Konkani mass celebrated by Rev Fr. Maurice D’Souza from Cleveland, Ohio.
After mass, the long awaited celebrations began with a welcome address by the President of the MCA Victor Lewis,which was followed by Fr. Maurice D’Souza’s words of wisdom to those gathered.
The excitement was palpable as traditional Mangalorean food was served much to the delight of all gathered, accompanied by cultural events that were absolutely entertaining. Performances included songs, skits, traditional dances and singing of Konkani songs which was enjoyed by one and all. Highlights of the evening included skits by Victor Sequeira and team and a group dance by Harman Mathias and team. The Mangalorean wedding party dance was enjoyed by all, performed by our wonderful ladies in red. Children participated with enthusiasm by dancing and singing as well.
DJ Ian D’Souza stole the show by spinning special tracks, that lured everyone to the dance floor asking for more!
The enthusiastic support of volunteers made this event very special. They worked tirelessly to make this event a stupendous success. Fredrick and Veronica Fernandes were acknowledged as the special couple for taking the initiative to organize this event.
