Udupi, 15 April 2011: The parish children of Mount Rosary have reason to enjoy this summer as three day long summer camp filled with fun and thrill has been organized in the Millennium Hall for the students from 5th to 10th standard.
This three days long summer camp was inaugurated on Thursday, 14 April 2011 by Jerry Vincent Dias, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council by lighting the lamp. He also addressed the students highlighting the need to have such camps in order to provided opportunities to the children to show case their talents.
As 14 April happens to be the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the ‘Father of India’s Constitution’, Jerry Vincent Dias garlanded the portrait of Dr. B R Ambedkar.
The Physical Director of the Mount Rosary High School, Nagraj along with nuns from the institute, Fr. Philip Nery Aranha, the Parish Priest, Deacon Br Dominic Lobo and some parish members participated with respect by paying tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar. Speaking at this occasion, Fr Philip Nery Aranha said that Dr Ambedkar should be honoured for his significant constribution in various fields, especially in drafting the Indian Constitution that came into force from 26 January 1950.
The morning session of the summer camp began with exciting games conducted by Deacon, Br Dominic Lobo. At 10 am, breakfast was served. The breakfast and lunch for the three day long summer camp has been sponsored by the parish community ward members. St Antony ward head Richard Dsouza, Rocky Olivera, Clary, Cynthia, Mariette, Veera and Jyothi Sr Nathali and Melony were present to witness the inauguration of the summer camp.
The initiative taken by the Parish Priest, Fr. Philip Nery Aranha to build the parish community by organizing various activities such as the summer camp for the students is greatly appreciated by the parishioners.
