Moodubelle, 10 February 2010: In a colourful religious and cultural atmosphere, the function of laying the foundation stone for the Sri Annapurna Commercial Complex and Marraige Hall was held on Monday, 8th February 2010 at 5pm at the Sri Annapurna Lay Out, Nalkubeedhi, Kattingeri.
Shri G. Bhimeshwara Joshi, the chief priest of Sri Annapurneshwari Temple at Horanadu was received with traditional customary procession at Nalkubeedhi. Following the procession, Shri Bhimeshwara Joshi performed the ritual of laying the foundation stone of the complex by cutting the ribbon of the pre-erected stone slab. Shri Bhimeshwara Joshi and Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle respectively recited prayers for the success of the project.
Mr. Devdas Hebbar, president of Sri Naga Brahmasthana Renovation Committee welcomed the guests and made introductory remarks. The function was presided over by Mr. Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA of the Kaup Constituency. The other guests of honour included: Vedamurthy B. Krishnamurthy Samaga, priest of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Temple, Badagu Pete, Udupi, Vedamoorthy Vishnumurthy, the local priest, Fr. Jowey Fernandes, Mr. Gerald Fernandes, president of the Social Justice Committee of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Mr. Shashidhar Wagle, president of the Belle Grama Panchayat, Mrs. Prafulla Shetty and Mr. Harish Hegde.
Mr. Chandrakant Rao, proprietor of the Sri Annapurna Lay Out honoured the guests with shawls and mementos. He also honoured all those people who had helped in organising the function. Mr. Durga Das compeered the programme and also proposed the vote of thanks.
In the evening at 7.30 pm the people of Kattingeri and Moodubelle were treated to a fun filled Tulu play Budi Budi Gadi Bidi written by Navin D. D Padil. Following the end of the play there was the grand celebration of the ‘Brahma Mandala Vaibhavotsava’.
