Kanajar: Pastoral visit by Rt. Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza

Kanajar, 10 April 2011: Rt. Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese gave a pastoral visit to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Kanajar on 2nd and 3rd of April 2011.

 

On 2nd April 2011 at 3.30 PM he was received by Rev. Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha Parish Priest, Mr. Ignatius D’Souza, Vice President and Mrs. Janet Menezes Secretary Parish Pastoral Parishad and a large numbers of Parishioners in front of Kanajar Sauharda Bhavan.

 

After reaching the church Bishop asked questions about catechism to small children up to PUC. The Mass began at 5.00 PM and concelebrated by Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha and Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues and Bishop Dr. A.P D’Souza being the main celebrant.

 

During the Mass 40 children were given the sacrament of confirmation. At the end of the Mass prizes were distributed to the winners of Catechism oral exam.

 

 

On 3rd of April 2011 Stations of Cross started at 8.30 AM followed by Catechism to elders. The Mass started at 9.30 AM and after the mass there was a brief felicitation ceremony. Lots of people offered garlands to the Bishop as a honour and love to him.

 

Rev F. Alwyn D’Cunha read a welcome note and Mr. Ignatius D’Souza Vice President read the message on behalf of the parishioners to show our love and respect to him.

 

After the program he met all the people of different age groups and listened the report  and gave advise to live as a good Christian life
At 1 pm delicious food was served to Bishop and members of the Parish Pastoral Parishad, Sisters of Bethany Convent and teachers of Lourdes Hr. Primary School Kanajar.
