Mangaluru, 19 Dec 2016: The newly-built mega auditorium at St Joseph, the Worker Church, Vamanjoor, near here was inaugurated on Sunday, December 18.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangaluru inaugurated the newly-built auditorium, located on Mangaluru – Moodbidri NH, at Vamanjoor, here on Sunday morning.
Earlier, Bishop Dr D’Souza concelebrated the Thanksgiving Mass at the Church along with several clergies.
In his homily, Bishop Dr D’Souza said, ‘As we are close to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus, it is a time to prepare spiritually by attending daily Eucharistic celebration and strengthen our faith.’
The nuns of nearby St Raymand Convent and Queen of the Apostles SRA conducted the prayer service.
Bishop Dr D’Souza also blessed the auditorium along with Vamanjoor parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka legislative steering Committee for backward classes and minority chairman and Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo commended the leadership of Vamanjoor parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto in building the mega auditorium that is the jewel in crown of city.
DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, ‘Catholics of Dakshina Kannada are the treasure to our district. They render value-based education to the students. May this mega auditorium spread peace to the world?’
Mangaluru north MLA B A Moideen Bawa, city mayor Harinath also spoke on the occasion.
Bishop Dr D’Souza and dignitaries felicitated architect Lawrence Cutinho, contractor Richard Rodrigues, Tiruvail ward corporator Hemalata and Raghu Salian, Vamanjoor parish council vice president Roshan M Kamat, secretary Joachim D;Souza, Gerald Monteiro, Jenifer, Steven Pinto, Rohan Pereira, Juliet Saldanha, Suresh, ZP former member Melvyn D’Souza and ZP member Seema Melvyn D’Souza on the same occasion.
Bishop Dr D’Souza honored the donors of Rs 1 lac and above Rs 2 lac towards the construction of mega auditorium.
He lauded the hard work of Fr Cyprian in realizing the dream of mega auditorium on NH. He thanked the donors for their generosity in this regard.
