Moodubelle, 24 Oct 2016: The Food Fest along with other events organized by the ICYM Unit of St. Lawrence Parish Moodubelle in support of the Mission Sunday collection on Sunday, 23 October 2016 from 2 to 8 pm evoked enthusiastic response from the parishioners.
The Food Fest and other events were inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Clement Mascharenhas-Parish Priest of Moodubelle along with Fr. Lawrence Cutinho- Assistant Parish Priest, animators-Vincent Fernandes and Mrs. Rovita Fernandes, Joseph Martis-President of Youth Commission, Moodubelle.
The entertainment event included Blind Throw ball competition in which teams from 18 wards participated. At the end of the tournament St. Paul II Ward emerged as victorious followed by St. Anne II Ward as Runners Up. The tournament was conducted by Raviraj, Nithin Pai and Haneef as referees.
There was quiz competition based on the knowledge of New Testament, life of St. Teresa of Kolkata and General Knowledge. Nineteen teams vied with each other for top position. In the first round five and in the second round six teams were eliminated and in the final round eight teams remained. Out of these eight teams Sacred Heart II Ward secured first position followed by St. Peter I Ward, second position and St. Roque II Ward, third position.
Eight teams took part in Cooking Without Fire competition. Each team was given 50 minutes to prepare and present their dishes. Each team had to prepare 6 items. At the end of the competition St. Lawrence Ward secured the first place followed by St. Peter I Ward, second place and St. Anne II Ward, third place. Chefs from Valley View-Rakesh, Dhananjay, Avinash, Sachin and Srikanth evaluated the dishes.
The ‘Selfie’ contest organized by the ICYM on the occasion of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady (Monti Festh) was won by Marita Sequeira of St. John the Baptist II Ward, first position and Kevin Britto of St. John the Baptist II Ward, second position. The winners of the Group Photo competition were-Micha Peter Dsouza of St. Peter I Ward, first place and Jacintha D’Souza of St. John the Baptist II Ward, second place.
The ICYM members had put up stalls to cater to the culinary taste of the parishioners who were present in the church premises to participate in various competitions as well as to witness and cheer the teams from their respective wards.
The entire programme was compered by Lloyd Rebello, Joy Fernandes and Prasanna D’Souza.
