Bellevision Kuwait (BVK) Celebrates Monthi Feast

Kuwait, 19 Sep 2016: On Friday, 16th September 2016, Bellevision – Kuwait, organized its first ever "Monthi Feast" celebration at Salmiya-Kuwait and served Traditional Fellowship Lunch to over 100 Belleans. The celebration began at 12:30 noon with a welcome dance by Ms. Venisha Saldana. Mr. Stephen Castalino (Vice President-BVK) welcomed the gathering and Mr. Stanley Martis (President-BVK) honored the guests i.e. visiting priests Fr. Baptist Menezes (Vicar General, Udupi), Fr. Fedric Braggs (Asha Kiran Badravathi), the President of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), Kanajar Welfare Association, Shirva Welfare Association and Pambur Welfare Association with bouquets of flowers. Senior citizens of Belle, who were present at the event, were also honored with flowers.

 

The traditional "Ponti" was lit by the Mr. Stany Martis (President - BVK) and the Committee Members of BVK, as a symbolic start of the celebration. Mr. Stany Martis, then addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to all the committee members for their support in organizing this event and also to all attendees for their presence and overwhelming response.

 

Fr. Baptist Menezes blessed the "Novem" (Grains of the New Crop) which was brought all the way from Boliye and the local harvest Date Fruits. Then all gathered together and the children came forward in a procession and offered roses to "Infant Mary" singing the Konkani hymn “Sakkad Sangatha Melyan” and stood around the statue of infant Mary and honored her by showering her with colorful petals of a variety of flowers such as Aboleen, Sheevntheen, Mogri, Zayo, Gulobs etc., This brought about a very homely feeling of our native place back home in Moodbelle. Fr. Baptist Menezes in his speech spoke very highly of the Bellevision community for gathering in such huge numbers.

 

 

Soon after that, Mr. Melwin Mascarenhas (MC) took over the program till the end which consisted of several Individual/duet dance & singing performances by our Young stars (Swizel Martis, Cliona Fernandes, Caroline Fernandes, Hailey Pereira, Aaral Noronha and Prianna Menezes. Different types of games were organized for people of all age groups and the housie housie for the entire crowd was conducted by Mrs. Leena Fernandes. Mr. Ralph Serrao (DJ) rocked the event with his very pleasant and lively music.

 

At 2:30 pm the traditional lunch "Novem Jevan" was blessed by Fr. Fedric Braggs. The mouthwatering "jevan" consisted of dishes like koromb, lonche, sone/tendli, pothrade, alloon dhento, seeth and vorn in which the blessed "novem" was added and was served in a Traditional manner on Banana Leaves. Every single person who had attended this event relished eating this festive lunch which was prepared with excellence by M&M Confectionaries (Kuwait).

 

The celebration came to a close at 4:30 pm. Mr. Marian Fernandes (Sports Secretary - BVK) thanked all the guests & belleans for their presence in huge numbers to celebrate the event as one big family. Special Appreciation and Gratitude was expressed to the Enthusiastic BVK Committee members for their extra efforts, time and energy that they had put in for arranging and organizing the entire program and making it a grand celebration. The event was concluded by singing "Laudate". The President of Bellevision-Kuwait and all the Committee members are Thankful to all those who supported this event in their own way and making this event a Great success and a Memorable one.
