Mumbai, 16 Sep 2016: Monti Fest was celebrated at St Louis Church, Dahisar, on Sunday September 11, symbolizing a precise blend of solemnity, devotion, unity, joy and merriment. All the families in the parish joined in the celebration of feast of Infant Mary.
The novena was held on Sunday at 10.30am, followed by the blessing of new paddy sheaves. A procession of children led to the church singing traditional hymn, ‘Sakadd Sangata Mellyam.’
The festal Mass was celebrated by a guest priest Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, assistant parish priest of Urwa (Mangaluru diocese) along with Fr Lancy D’Silva CSC, parish priest of St Louis parish, Dahisar, here.
It was followed by a cultural programme wherein parishioners of all age groups came forth and actively participated in a variety of skits, dances and songs.
There were around 300 devotees gathered for this feast and they cherished every moment of this celebration as this event reminded everyone of their good old days in Mangaluru.
On the whole, Monti Fest was organised by members of the Konkani Cell of St Louis Church, Dahisar. It was in a very grand and traditional way, with the support of all the members and their families.
After the cultural programme, Fr Terrence CSC, assistant parish priest said grace before the fellowship meal, Novem Jevan.
