Konkan’s Ireland Monthi Feast Celebration in Dublin with great Enthusiasm

Ireland/Dublin, 13 Sep 2016: To preserve our Mangalorean culture in Ireland we have a small community called Konkan’s Ireland. We venerated Infant Mary through novena and flowers for 9 days in different churches of Dublin Diocese. We celebrated Monthi Feast with much enthusiasm at St. Paul’s youth club on 10th September. 

 

The celebration commenced with blessings of the new crop, which was brought all the way from our homeland. Our children venerated infant Mary with flowers and there was lots of enthusiasm and vigour as they sang Happy Birthday Mama Mary with a traditional song Moreak Hogollshiam. The varieties of colourful flowers brought by little kids were showered to the Infant Mary on her special Birthday Celebration. The Holy Eucharistic celebration was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Suresh Babu, with beautiful homily with the message that ‘relationships are more important than life, but life is important in those relationships’. The melodious Choir was led by Anil D’Souza.

 

A brief cultural program was arranged after the Holy Eucharist. Arathi Noronha welcomed the gathering that consists of Ireland Konkan members, guests and little kids who showered the flowers to the statue of Infant Mary.

 

 

Konkan’s Ireland as a family enjoyed the traditional Novem Jevan with seven vegetarian dishes followed by vorn and other desserts. A few games were conducted to keep the little kids happy and the winning kids were presented with gifts. Shoba Lobo conducted the entire cultural program wonderfully. DJ Anil D’Souza and team entertained the audience with a few konkani songs.

 

Cultural programmes entertained the crowd as our budding talents displayed their passion. Various games were conducted for kids and adults and there was lot of cheer among the crowd.

 

Lunch prepared by Gregory and Lilly Sequiera. Whole programme wonderfully organised by monthi feast committee under the leadership of Alwyn Fernandes.

 

The day concluded as the gathering filled the dance floor to the Baila music. On behalf of Konkan’s Ireland we wish you all a very Happy Monthi Feast. May our Mother Mary intercede for all of us and shower the choicest heavenly blessings on us all.
