Mangaluru: KNS conducts 53rd Inter-Parish singing competition

Mangaluru, 15 Aug 2016: Konkani Natak Sabha®(KNS) Mangalore organized the 53rd Inter Parish Singing Competition for the age group of above 15 years of different parishes of Mangalore Diocese at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday August 14.

 

The competition was inaugurated by Elias Fernandes, Managing Director of Four Winds Mass Communication and Fr Joackim D’Souza, Ex-President of KNS by lighting the lamp along with office bearers.

 

The competition was held in two parts - out of city parishes and city parishes.

 

99 competitors from eleven parishes took part in the out of city parishes for the solo, duet, mixed group and married couple. Gurpur, Neermarga and Bantwal Parishes bagged the first, second and third place respectively.

 

Gurpur Parish bagged overall championship in the children and adults category among out of city parishes.

 

 

Among the city parishes, 75 competitors from nine parishes took part in solo, duet, mixed group and married couple. Bajjodi, Cordel and Cascia Parishes bagged the first, second and third place respectively.

 

Bajjodi Parish bagged overall championship in the children and adults category among city Parishes.

 

Roshan Martis, Sylvia Fernandes and Ivan Sequeira were the judges.

 

Ex-President Fr Joackim D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Raymond D’Cunha and Dolphy Saldanha compered. Floyd D’Mello proposed vote of thanks. General Secretary Sunil Menezes and Convenor Jossy Theodore announced the results. Vice President Prem Lobo introduced the judges.
