Kaup MLA blames that UPCL is the creation of other political parties

Kaup, 04 March 2011: Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon told media that “Nagarjuna (UPCL) which is causing the environmental damage at the coastal area, has come into existence because of other political parties while they were in the administration. These parties supported this project and only now it has started producing electricity during BJP administration”.

 

 

 

He also said that “due to this project work agricultural land is affected by the salt water and the fly ash. Earlier, on this matter Assistant Commissioner from Kundapura was called to the place during the protest and I expressed my interest to review the project details along with the local leaders of the company. But at that time some of the protesters took this issue politically and was not allowed to review, hence it was not possible to know what is happening inside the company”.

 

Lalaji Mendon further said that “In those earlier days many BJP workers participated in the protest and there were many cases filed against them. Also there has been case filed against me. Now after everything is over other parties have woken up. Regarding the problems faced by the people on this issue I have already discussed with our party leadership. In the coming days along with D. V. Sadanada Gowda I will visit the place and inspect and try to resolve the problems”.
