Udupi, 03 Jul 2016: Rtn. PHP. Peter Raphael Aranha, former Headmaster of Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School and recipient of National Best Teacher Award took charge as the new President of the Rotary Club of Manipura in a well organized Installation function conducted by Rtn. PHP. Robert Franklin Rego, TRF Coordinator, Zone 1, R.I. District-3181 on Sunday, 3 July 2016 at 6.30 pm. Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha took charge from the outgoing President Rtn. Camil Sequeira. Other dignitaries present on this occasion on the dais included Rtn. PHP. Dr. Gururaj K., Assistant Governor Zone 5, 2016-17, Rtn. PHP. Vincent D’Souza, Zonal Lieutenant, 2016-17, and Rtn. PHP. John Sequeira who took charge as the Secretary for the year 2016-17. The programme was held at the Rotary Auditorium, Manipura.
Following the welcome address by Rtn. Camil Sequeira, Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha who was the Secretary for the year 2015-16 read the report of the activities of the Rotary Club of Manipura during the last year.
Rtn. Wilfred Mendonca introduced the Installation Officer, Rtn. Robert Franklin Rego, Rtn. Gururaj Bhat introduced Rtn. Dr. Gururaj K., Rtn. Joseph Kunder introduced Rtn. Vincent D’Souza.
In his farewell speech, the outgoing President Rtn. Camil Sequeira briefly narrated the various activities conducted by the Rotary Club of Manipura during his presidentship.
Prior to the Installation ceremony, Rtn. Roshan Mathias introduced the new President Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha and Rtn. Surendra Shenoy introduced the new Secretary Rtn. John Sequeira.
Rtn. Robert Franklin Rego administered the oath of office to both Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha and Rtn. John Sequeira thus installing them as the President and Secretary respectively of the Rotary Club of Manipura for the year 2016-17.
Rtn. Camil Sequeira and Rtn. Joseph Kunder were given certificates conferring on them the title of Paul Harris Fellow (PHP). Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary International.
On this occasion, A.G. D’Souza and Mrs. Gibba Ida D’Souza were inducted as new members of the Rotary Club of Manipura.
The newly installed President Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha, in his address narrated the circumstances that led to his joining the Rotary Club of Manipura and said that he was offered first the post of Secretary and this year the post of the President which he accepted willingly so that he can contribute his service to the society with the support of all the Rotary Club members.
Rtn. Vincent D’Souza appreciated the service rendered by the outgoing President Rtn. Camil Sequeira and wished well and promised support to the new President.
Rtn. Dr. Gururaj K. Released the Rotary Club of Manipura bi-annual bulletin “Manikya”. In his message he highlighted the good work done by the Rotary International especially in the field of eradicating polio.
The chief guest Rtn. Robert Franklin Rego complimented the new President Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha and his team and urged them to render service to the society in the best way possible according to their ability and resources. He also highlighted the various humanitarian services that are being undertaken by the Rotary Club International.
Rtn. John Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks and Rtn. Chandrashekhar Salian compered the programme.
The entire function was sponsored by Benedict, Laveena and Lavisha Quadros of Moodubelle, relatives of Rtn. Peter Raphael Aranha. On their behalf Mrs. Matilda Quadros, sister-in-law of Benedict Quadros accepted the memento from Rtn. Raphael Aranha.
