Moodubelle, 02 March 2011: Realising the importance of the modern technology in educating children, especially in the rural schools, Mrs. Satyavati Ramdas Tantri of Bangalore has donated Edu-sat to Shri Mahabhaleshwara Hindu Anudhanitha Higher Primary School at Edmeru, whereas in the memory of late Akkmma Shetty ‘Shabari’ of Naalkubeedhi, her children have donated a TV set to the school.
The inauguration of these two educational technologies was done in the school hall under the presidentship of Devdas Hebbar, newly elected president of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat on Saturday, 26th February 2011. Speaking at this occasion, Devdas Hebbar said that in modern times it is important to use technologies such as Edusat in order to complement the education that they receive from their teachers. As the aided schools face shortage of teachers, Edusat would help in imparting knowledge to the students. He appreciated the efforts taken by the headmaster, Vivekananda Shetty in availing various facilities to the school from the old students as well as well-wishers.
The inauguration function was attended by Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Sitarama Shetty, Kurshida Prafulla Shetty Shabari , Ajit Shetty, Surendra Nayak, Nagesh Billava, and other prominent persons from the village.
The newly elected president of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar was felicitated by senior teacher, Bhaskar Shetty and Sitaram Shetty presented him a memento. Free pens donated by the Karnataka Bank, Kattingeri Branch were distributed to the students. On this occasion Kum. Poornima and Kum. Saujanya who had undergone three months training course in Udupi Diet were also felicitated.
The headmaster of the Edmeru Schol, N. Vivekananda Shetty welcomed the guests and Udayakumar Hegde Yarlappady compeered the programme.
