Doha, 14 May 2016: The members of Bellevision along with their families and friends enjoyed a wonderful picnic at the Marah Land Gardens in Al Wakrah, Qatar on Friday 13th May 2016 afternoon. The event included sporting activities, games, jokes, entertainment and prizes thoroughly enjoyed by all who were present.
It was a pleasant day; everyone gathered in the garden park at 3.00 pm and selected a place that was full of lush green grass lawn surrounded by trees that provided good shade. We camped there placing all the things that were brought in preparation for this picnic and sat there forming a circle. Refreshments and snacks were served as everyone exchanged greetings.
The formal commencement of the picnic began with the introductory note by vice president Amith Mathias who later compered the entire event also cracking rib tickling jokes inbetween. President Avinash D’Souza welcomed the gathering and thanked all for their presence. He said that the main objective of event like this is to bring together all those from our native place living here in Qatar and he called upon everyone to have fun and enjoy a great picnic. Secretary Carol D’Souza presented the report of the previous Bellevision Qatar event.
Carol D’Souza conducted various games and entertaining competitions. She briefed the rules of the games and to make the event much more exciting, two teams were formed naming them “Belle” and “Udupi”. The team competitions were such as bursting the balloons, picking the bone, finding the shoes and the main event tug-of-war. There were also individual competitions for spot prizes; such as name the ingredients, tongue twisters, briefing the recipe, passing the ball, bombing the city and so on.
The games competitions were innovative, well organized and full of fun and kept everyone active. Then it was the tug of war which has always been the highlight of Bellevision picnic. The two mixed teams of strong men and women were chosen. It was a tough battle as both teams flexed their muscles and pulled to their strength. It was great entertainment as the supporters of both teams cheered standing on their toes.
Tea and snacks were served in between the games as everyone relaxed sitting on the lawn cracking some jokes and talking on general topics and no one knew how the good time has passed away in that fantastic atmosphere. The entire event was enjoyed by everyone and it was a great experience to all.
Finally it was time for the prize distribution to the winners, which were handed over by Advisory committee and senior members William Aranha, John D’Souza, Mable Martis and Victor D’Souza.
