Mumbai, 02 Apr 2016: Jagruti Kendra, a NGO of St. Jude’s Church, Jerimeri celebrated Senior Citizen Day on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of “HELPERS OF MARY” Congregation on 31ST March, 2016 at St. Jude’s Quadrangle Hall from 4 pm to 6 pm.
Sr. Seema, the founder of JK welcomed the gathering.
Ch. Guest, Fr. Lancy lighted the lamp along with other Senior Citizens and congratulated Sisters of “Helpers of Mary” with Rose Flowers for their Platinum Jubilees and also congratulated JK for taking initiatives to become friendly with Senior Citizens.
In his speech he said, “Senior citizens are the jewels and pearls of the nation” we should always think about the Senior Citizens who made a difference in our lives. They are our mentors, teachers, Parents, grand parents and loved ones. Also they are volunteers and role models.
We should always respect Senior Citizens for their valuable contributions in our families, work places and communities. Lets show our appreciation for everything they do.
Mrs. Anitha Kakde from Family Welfare Agency explained some benefits/grants which they are eligible for.
Flora D’Souza requested all the Seniors, irrespective of their age, they should continue with their leadership abilities, energy and skills that can benefit all of us.
Sr. Seema proposed JK’s plan for Sr. Citizens that they can come daily and play games like Carrom Board, Chess etc., if interested and also can participate in Laughing Club, she also gave the Demo of Laughing club.
Mrs. Rani Fernando and Mrs. Merceline D’souza expressed their happiness and thanked JK for organizing such a nice event to Seniors and Jacintha D’Souza gave vote of tanks.
Augustine Kuttikat conducted some funny slogans, jokes and games. Helpage India distributed the snacks. JK distributed a Eco friendly bag with Bath Towel & biscuits.
Women’s Group of Sunder Baug entertained them with Street Play. Nearly 200 Senior Citizens from Jerimeri without considering cast & creed participated in this programme.
