Dubai, 29 Feb 2016: Mangalore Konkans Dubai announced to organize Konkani Gayan Spordho - 2016, Konkani singing contest for the young and old at Apple International School, Al Qusais, behind Emirates Driving Institute, nearest to metro station Al Nahda, here on Friday May 13.
The competition will begin on Friday at 10.00am sharp. Reporting time for morning session will be 9.00am and for the afternoon session will be 12.30 pm.
The competition will be preliminary-round to select the best 6 from each solo singing category of Male and Female (Above 18 Years) to qualify for the semi-finals of“Gulf Voice of Mangalore to be held in September 2016.
Rules and Regulations
1) The competition is open to all Konkani-speaking individuals with valid UAE residence visa. The language of singing is Konkani only.
2) Participant should report for morning session at 9.00am (category 1, 2 and 3) and afternoon session before 12.30pm (category 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10).
3) Participant should complete his / her birthday on May13, 2016 to be eligible to participate in their respective category. Participants born on 14th May or after must select the category of lower age group as applicable. Proof of age should be provided upon request of the organizing Committee.
4) Time limit: solo and duet – maximum 3 minutes, group singing – maximum 5 minutes.
5) Participants in group: minimum 6 members and maximum 10. Contestant of a particular group will not eligible to participate in another group.
6) Musician accompanying the singer needs to stand behind the singer and not on the side or in front. Participant is free to play his own musical instrument while singing.
7) Only one musical instrument / accompaniment is allowed for solo / duet singing and maximum two for a group. Electronic instruments or Karaoke music is not permitted.
8) Contestants should not refer to lyrics written. Referring to lyrics in any format will render the participant disqualified.
9) Last date for submission of entries will be April 30, 2016.
10) Total number of entries for each category is limited, on a first come first served basis.
11) Presentation should not be offensive / abusive in any respect. Should such a discrepancy be noted, the contestant will be immediately disqualified.
12) The best 6 singers from each solo singing category of male and female (18 years and above) will qualify to enter into semi finals of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, participants of which are restricted to Konkani-speaking Mangaloreans only.
13) A panel of judges will judge the contest and their decision will be final and binding.
14) Mangalore Konkans Dubai reserves the right to amend / cancel any item of the event without prior notice in case of insufficient entries or for any other unavoidable reason. If required, Mangalore Konkans Dubai reserves right to make amendments in the above rules and their decision will be final and binding.
