Shirva, 03 Feb 2016: The Annual Feast of Our Lady of Health Shirva parish was Celebrated with great devotion on Wednesday the 3rd February 2016.
The grand celebration began with distribution of blessed candles and then followed by the Eucharistic Mass by main celebrant Rev. Fr. Louis D’Sa the parish priest of Mudarangadi accompanied by many priests from the neighbouring parishes, resident priest and Parish Priest of Shirva Parish Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro.
In his wonderful homily Fr. Louise highlighted 3 great virtues of Mother Mary i.e. Profound Obedience to the will of God, Total surrender to God and complete Trust on the Word of God. He further explained how Mother Mary was pained when her son Jesus was insulted, rebuked and suffered at the cross but she silently prayed and surrendered herself to the Will of God from manger to Calvary. Just like Mary surrendered totally to the Will of God, we too must surrender ourselves to Him especially when in sickness, problems and sufferings. This year being the Year of Mercy we must show mercy to our neighbors, esp. those who have done wrong to us and also show mercy to the neglected in the society.
Fr. Stany Tauro thanked all the parishioners for attending the feast in large numbers, the organizers, the parish council members esp. Wilson D’Souza (VP Parish Council) and William Machado (Gen Secretary) for taking care of each and every task. The resident priests Fr. Anil Castelino and Fr. Steven who has been rendering their helping hand to him to run the parish smoothly.
Fr. Tauro also announced that there are two projects are proposed in the current year i.e. 1) a CBSE school and a new Parish for Pillar. He requested everyone’s support for these projects and prayers to accomplish successfully.
The church choir rendered melodious hymns throughout the ceremony.
Large number of stalls and ice-cream parlours were put up and kids enjoyed all types of games until evening. ICYM organized interesting games in their stalls.
