Kanajar: The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on 11 February 2011

Kanajar, 10 February 2011: The feast of our lady of Lourdes will be celebrated in Kanajar on Friday, 11th February 2011 with all solemnity.

 

Kanajar is the only parish dedicated to our lady of Lourdes in Mangalore diocese.

 

The Kanajar parish was erected in 1938 and was dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. Ever since then, not only Catholics, even non Catholics have great devotion to Lady of Lourdes. Non Catholics call her as “Mariamma Dever”. They come to the church in times of their needs and light the candles to Our Lady of Lourdes.

 

 

 

As a preparation for the feast, 3three days Tridium  has begun on Tuesday, 8th February.  A large number of people attend the Tridium which starts at 3.45 p.m.

 

On Friday, 11th February the festive mass will be at 10.30 a.m. Rev. Fr. Valerian D’ Silva (OFM-Cap) will be the main celebrant.  After the mass there will be special prayers for the sick people and all will be anointed with the holy olive oil.

 

 

The parish priest Rev. Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha along with Parish Pastoral Council extend to all the devotees of Our Lady of Lourdes, a warm and cordial invitation for the feast.
