Shankerpura/Pangala, 13 Dec 2015: As reported earlier the educational institutions of St. John’s Academy both Kannada and English medium schools celebrated school day with colourful display of cultural events that mesmerized the school children and parents throughout the day. The morning session involved Flag Hoisting and Prize Distribution Ceremony with cultural entertainment by English Medium schools.
The Kannada Medium Prize Distribution program along with drama “ Aal Ennal” was staged by St. John Old Students Association during it Annual Day Celebrations.
The annual day program was presided over by Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza (Head Master, Milagres English Medium High School) and was attended by Rev. Fr. Leslie D’Souza, (Correspondent St. John Academy), Rev. Fr. Vincent Coello (Principal, PU College), Mrs. Clara Mendonsa (Head Mistress, St. John High School Kannada Medium), Mrs. Ida Carnelio (High School, English Medium), Ms. Esma Fernandes (Teacher, English Medium), Sr. Mary (Teacher, English Medium) Mr. Mark Vaz (Vice President, Parish Council), Ms. Seema D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council) and Mr. Ragupathi Acharya (President, Old Students Association) and Ms. Anitha Mathias (Secretary-Old Students Association).
The annual day began with a prayer by High School Students and Ms. Juliet Irene (Teacher, High School) accorded a hearty welcome to all the dignitaries on the dais and they were felicitated with Jasmine garlands. The annual reports were read by Ms. Esma Fernandes, Ms. Clara Mendonsa for Primary and High school and Ms. Anitha Mathias for Old Students Association followed by prize distribution ceremony for winning students in various academically excelled and winners in sports and other extracurricular activities.
Fr. Mahesh in his address to students and parents stressed upon responsibility of the each parents to learn what their child is doing at home and most probably at school. He said the current generation of kids are bestowed with mobiles and these mobiles are extensively miss-used by students and many students esp. girls were trapped. It is because our parents do not keep track of their children what they do with their mobiles. Also there are so many other issues where the students mind is diverted. He also called upon the students to devoute themselves completely to their education and build up their career with utmost care. He urged all the parents to take extra care in grooming their children and give them proper advise and guidance towards their education and future.
Speaking on the occasion Fr. Leslie said, St. John the Evangelist under whos all these institutions are running was a highly educated and learned person and at the same time a most peace loving and devout apostle of Jesus Christ. Like Sarasvati, the Godess of education, our schools are running as per these two saints guidance and our students must adhere to their teachings and excel in every field and build up a great and wonderful and successful future.
