Shankerpura/Pangala, 12 Dec 2015: The educational institutions of St. John’s Academy both Kannada and English medium schools celebrate school day with colourful display of cultural events that mesmerized the school children and parents throughout the day. The educational institutions that were involved in celebrations were St. John Primary School, High School and St. John PU College.
The whole day grand celebration began with flag hoisting by Ms. Veera Juliet D’Souza (President, Katapady Gram Panchayat) along with Rev. Fr. Leslie D’Souza (Correspondent, St. John Academy), Rev. Fr. Vincent Coello (Principal, PU College), Mrs. Clara Mendonsa (Head Mistress, St. John High School Kannada Medium), Mrs. Ida Carnelio (High School, English Medium), Ms. Esma Fernandes (English Medium) Mr. Mark Vaz (Vice President, Parish Council), Ms. Seema D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council) and Mr. Ragupathi Acharya (President, Old Students Association), Ms. Clara Mendonsa accorded a hearty welcome and said how her dream was realized. It was just a primary school when she studied around 50 yrs back and now grown into a mighty St. John’s Academy up to PUC . Thousands of students have passed through these schools and have built up their wonderful future and spread all around the globe but never forgotten their roots.
Ms. Veera D’Souza congratulated all staff and children on the occasion of their school day and wished them all the best. Speaking on the occasion Fr. Leslie said that he agrees with Ms. Clara Mendonsa that the dream of many children and parents have been realized and he congratulated all staff for their hard work, dedication for the progress of the schools and students. He said while we are working for Swatch Bharat, we must also should lift our dignity and become swatch students. All students need to maintain their discipline and dignity and should become role model to others.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Ragupathi Acharya.
The flag hoisting ceremony was followed with Prize Distribution Ceremony for English Medium School Students. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest-St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was the Chief Guest and he distributed prizes to the students for their excellence in academicals and sports events. In his presidential address he said only hard work, determination and dedication will lead to success and hence to meet our goal, we must work hard and only then we will be able to realize our dream.
The mesmerizing dances enthralled the students and a meaningful skit by PU students was worth to watch.
