Abu Dhabi: Bunts Dubai Ladies & Bunts Dubai win ISC - Arab Udupi 4th Open Throw ball Championship

Abu Dhabi, 31 Oct 2015: In a thrilling and electrifying finish, Bunts Dubai ladies throw ball team beat KCO Abu Dhabi and in men’s throw ball final  Bunts Dubai  managed to beat the fighting Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and walked away with the ISC-Arab Udupi Throw ball Trophies - 2015.

 

India Social & Cultural Centre (ISC) conducted ISC – Arab Udupi 4th UAE Open Throw ball Championship - 2015 at ISC premises, here on Friday October 30.

 

 

The honorary president Ramesh Panicker welcomed the gathering.  The match co-ordinator Sarvotham Shetty briefed the rules and regulations of the tournament.

 

Main sponsor Shekar B Shetty of Arab Udupi Group of Restaurants  wished success for all participating teams.

 

The event was a resounding success with 7 teams in both men’s and women’s division participating for the coveted title.

 

Bunts Dubai, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha,  KCO Abu Dhabi,  Mogaveers UAE,  Mangalore Konkans, Konkans Dubai and  Coastal Friends UAE partaken in the tournament.

 

The tournament began with Sarvotham Shetty, president Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and also a veteran in the field guiding and managing throw ball tournament for the last 25 plus years invited the team captains for the lots and explained the rules and regulations of the league matches.

 

The following teams participated in the whole day thrilling tournament in a good cool weather of Abu Dhabi on the roof top of Abu Dhabi Social and Cultural Centre.

 

 

Awards for the Championship

Cash prize and team trophy were awarded to both  the winners and runner up team both men and ladies.

 

Main sponsor Shekar Shetty Arab Udupi Group of Hotels UAE along with his wife Kushala Shetty, ISC honorary president Ramesh Panikkar, Leo Rodirgues of Al Mazroui Abu Dhabi and other managing Committee members were present during the prize distribution ceremony.

 

Co-sponsors   Jairam Rai of Bin Fardhan Group, Sundar Shetty of Nihal Restaurant, Hilda D’Souza, Hanif Mohammed of Starlight Spring water and other sponsors present for the gala ceremony.

 

Individual awards for both men and ladies category were presented to Best Smasher Award, Best Defender Award and Best All-Rounder of the Championship.

 

In the concluding ceremony ISC sports secretary George thanked all the sponsors of the event, and the participants.  All the referees were honored for the dedicated service throughout the day and also ISC members who helped to organize the games smoothly and arranging venues and courts. All the sponsors too were honored on the occasion. Sarvotham Shetty declared the names of the best performed players:

 

Ladies Team

Best Striker: Shashi Shetty of Bunts Dubai, Best Defender: Akshata Shetty of Bunts Dubai, Best All-rounder Mable of KCO.

 

Men’s Team

Best Striker: Ajit of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Best Defender: Shiva Shetty of Bunts Dubai, Best All Rounder: Ranjit Shetty of Dubai Bunts.

 

ISC had extended its warm hospitality by making  special arrangement to provide lunch and  refreshments  to all the players , families and spectators  with a total  turnout of more than 400 enthusiastic people joining the whole day fun event.

 

First-aid facilities were provided by L L H Hospital on standby to participants on the day of the competition.

 

The event was well conducted and organized  by special efforts of tournament chief –Sarvathom Shetty along with ISC  sports secretary George, assistant sports secretary Mohammed Yunus Usman, tournament officials Yogesh Prabhu and Ziyad Kamaruddin, supported by Keerthi Kumar, referees Cynthia D’Cunha,  Jenita, Prakash  and all the other  match officials volunteers and support staff of the center.

 

All the league matches were played in a very sportive sprit and referees did a good job by conducting all the matches without any controversies.  The event was a memorable one for all to remember.
