Udupi, 09 Sep 2015: The feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary (Monti Fest) was celebrated at Milagres Cathedral with great devotion and joy here on Tuesday September 8.

 

The congregation gathered in front of the main gate of Cathedral on Tuesday at 8.30am, where the little children offered flowers to Infant Mary.

 

The deanery vicar Fr Stany B Lobo blessed the freshly-sourced paddy sheaves in a liturgical service along with assistant parish priest Fr Rolwin Aranha, Fr Denis Lobo, Fr Nelson Furtado and Ozanum chaplain Fr Henry Mascarenhas.

 

The festal Eucharistic Mass was concelebrated by Fr Denis Lobo, superior and vocation director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur, along with Fr Stany B Lobo, Fr Rolwin Aranha, Fr. Henry Mascarenhas and Fr Nelson Furtado.

 

 

Fr Denis Lobo in his homily pointed out that Virgin Mary listened to the good news from the God Almighty and she followed God throughout her life with obedience. He pointed out the theme of the day that one had to change the lifestyle to save our planet from the perils of manmade disasters.

 

Meanwhile, at the outset of forthcoming of platinum jubilee celebration of the Cathedral, portrait banner of some of the projects was released on the occasion.

 

The scholarship was distributed to the meritorious students by Catholic Sabha unit of Kallianpur unit.  It was sponsored by late Lazarus D’Souza and family of Kote Road of Milagres ward. The sponsor of the feast late Lazarus D’Souza and family was honored.
