However, in Pangla Parish we have the tradition of meeting at the ground soon after the traditional lunch for the sports event that was organized in our Parish from the time I think we started Monti Fest in Pangla Parish. Its an unique sports event where from the little kids from the KG to the veterans of 50 plus enjoy a full afternoon participating in an unique sports that includes races, one leg race, three leg race, Short Put throw, slow cycle race and most exiting are hitting the pot tied about 15 feet high and tug-of-war. It is an event most memorable to watch and enjoy every moment.
This year too this unique and most wonderful sports event called: Monti-Fest KhellaSpordo was organized by our youngsters that are ICYM members of Pangla Parish.
The grand sports event begins around 2;30pm with the race competition beginning with little kids of KJ and followed by teenagers and youngsters up to PU College, followed by other unique games, such as slow cycle race, short put, bombing the city for all ages.
The specialty of the day is hitting the pot that usually filled with sweets. This year too that most fun loving sport event took place and watched by all the parishioners supporting their candidates. In this game only adult ladies and gentlemen took place and it was really challenging games as the people took place were blind folded and turned two or three times before they were let off to hit the pot.
The final grand event was the tug-of-war that took place between the wards of the parish. Four wards each group of ladies and gents took place in this amazing show of strength event. This unique event is supported and cheered by each ward members.
The final tally of the day was bagged by St. John’s ward of the parish as they were declared over-all winners.
A brief prize distribution ceremony took place at the school stage wherein Mr. Mark Vaz (Vice President- Parish Council) and Simmy D’Souza (Secretary- Parish Council) distributed the prizes to the winners.
