Udupi, 08 Sep 2015: The annual Talents Day that was organized by the ICYM Unit of Moodubelle on Tuesday, 8 September 2015 from 3.30 to 7 pm in the parish hall evoked enthusiastic response from the participants and audience.
The stage programme to distribute prizes for the winners of various competitions that were conducted by the ICYM for the parishioners on successive Sundays and to honour Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes who has been appointed as the International Director of Youth Associations was held at 3.30 pm. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascaenhas, parish priest presided over the programme. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes, Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto, Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes (OFM Cap), Alphonse Alva and Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Vice President and Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Joseph Martis-President of Youth Commission, Moodubelle Unit, Vincent Fernandes and Mrs. Rovita Fernandes-Animators of ICYM, Nevile D’Souza and Ms. Felina D’Souza-President and Secretary of ICYM Moodubelle Unit.
Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais. Fr. Clement also blessed the vessel containing the ‘vorn’ mixed with new paddy corn which was later distributed to all those who were present in the auditorium by the ICYM members soon after the stage programme.
Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes, Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto and Alphonse Alva distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted by ICYM members to children of various ages and adults during the earlier Sundays.
Alphonse Alva in his address congratulated the ICYM for organizing the talents day.
Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes was felicitated by Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and other dignitaries. Prior to the felicitation, Ms. Ashwini Fernandes introduced Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes highlighting his achievements.
In his message, Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes said that by organizing Talents Day every year, the youth of the parish have shown the way how they can organize various competitions and bring the parishioners together. Such talent days are the platform through which the parishioners right from children to adults can show case their hidden qualities.
Rev. Fr. Clement Macarenhas honoured all those who have been supporting and helping the ICYM Unit to conduct their various activities including the Talents Day.
In his message, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenahs said that the ICYM Unit of Moodubelle has been very active and he has seen very good unity among the parishioners.
Nevile D’Souza welcomed the guests and the gathering, Ms. Felina D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Rowlin Quadros compered the programme.
Next, part of the function was the presentation of cultural programme that included dances, songs, skits and ‘dombarata’ by Henry Alva and team.
