Moodbidri, 16 Aug 2015: It was a expansive open-air venue a massive stage has been decorated with tri-colors disciplined NCC cadets and over 20,000 students in front of the stage with national flag.
It was the splendor of I-Day celebrations held at Sundari Anand Alva campus of Alvas Education Foundation here on Saturday August 15. Padmavibhushan Dr D Veerendra Heggade and thousands of students, teaching staff and people of Moodbidri witnessed this unique I-Day celebration.
Dr Veerendra was the chief guest said, ‘We lack nationalism. When we follow nationalism and live for the nation, India will have a great future. If we create bright future for ourselves, become responsible citizen, the nation will have better future,’ said Dr Veerendra.
‘Our country remained backward because of British slavery and superstitious beliefs, but it has surged in prosperity in the past 68 years. The non-violence has earned us freedom,’ said Dr Heggade.
Rains did not dampened I-Day spirit
As chief guest completed his speech, it rained heavily. Despite the rains none of the students moved from their positions. When the national unity song was sung, every student was found waving national flags. Meanwhile, tri-color balloons were released on the same occasion that reached the skies taking the national spirit to greater heights.
Four varieties of cultural shows were held simultaneously on the stage amidst the rains. The gymnastics, rope stunt, rolling bar and Huli vesha was presented by XNX group of Thane which mesmerized the gathering. The rains continued to pour even after celebrations to convey joys of I-Day. The people were happy to be part of this rare lifetime celebration.
New buildings inaugurated
Mijaruguttu Anand Alva, father of Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation inaugurated 8 new buildings including hostels of Alvas Education Foundation.
