Manama: Bellevision Bahrain celebrates annual feast

Manama, Bahrain,  15 January 2011: The function for the official launching of the Bellevision Bahrain and the Feast of St. Lawrence was held at the Papillon Cultural Hall on the 13th of Jan’2011 at 8.30pm.

 

The Master of Ceremony Mr. John D’souza Gave a brief introduction of Bellevision welcoming the Chief Guest, the Honorable guests and all the people gathered.

 

The chief guest of the function was Rev.Fr. Freddy D’souza, Asst. Parish Priest of The Sacred Heart Church Bahrain, Guest of Honour was Mr. Richard Moras, Convener of Konkani Kutam Bahrain.

 

The Function was started with the welcome prayer and hymn in honour St. Lawrence, the Patron of Belle Church. Later New Managing Committee was officially inducted, they are –

Asst. General Secretary : Hilda D’Almeida

Treasurer : Kishore Dsouza

Entertainment Secretary : Sunil D’sa

Asst. Sports Secretary : Deena Fernandes and Sona Shetty

Membership Coordinator : Baptist Sequeira

 

The chief guest, guest of honor along with president and the committee members lighted the ceremonial lamp and cut the cake of the official opening.  The President Mr. Joel D’sa in his presidential address mentioned the objectives and the main motive behind starting of the Association and briefed about various activities planned for the future. Since the parish of Belle is celebrating the centenary year, he wished all the members and guests, with blessings of St. Lawrence on their families.

 

The chief guest also wished Bellevision Bahrain success and extended his spiritual support in their future endeavors.

 

The President thanked all the sponsors and co-sponsors and members for their unconditional support.  The Chief Guest honoured the main sponsors Mr. Simon Machado and family, Mr. Edward Noronha and family and Mr. Naveen Mendonca and family for their generosity.  Also the members who contributed in several ways were also honoured by the guest of honour.

 

 

 

As a special attraction, all the members and guests who are celebrating their birthdays and anniversaries in the month of January were called on the dias by the M.C. to cut the special celebration cake on this auspicious day.

 

The following entertainment programs were lined up for the evening which were conducted by the Asst. Entertainment Secretary Ms. Nirmala:

• Dances from tiny tots, participants were Ashel, Rachel, Steesha, Nikita, Buela and Kushi
• Dance from boys, participants were Ashton, Jason, Sherwin and Lionel.
• Single and Duet songs by Preetham, Melba, Ronald and Melissa.
• Skits performed by Joel, Arun, Alfreeda, Nirmala

 

As a special attraction to reflect the real essence of annual parish feast, a tablo of Saantmari was performed by Joel, Sona, Ida, Hilda, Alfreeda, Ashel and Ashton which a big hit among the audience.

 

Various kids and adult games were conducted by the Entertainment Secretary Mr. Sunil along with assistants Mrs. Deena Fernandes and Mrs. Sona Shetty.

 

All the winners were presented with prizes and the kids who took part in various cultural activities were presented with complimentary gifts. Chocolates, which were sponsored by Al Jazira Supermarket, were distributed to the children.

 

Naveen Mendonca, an active konkni writer and active member of Bellevision, Bahrain distributed his book “ Bali” to all the members during the program. The president Mr. Joel D’sa thanked him for his good gesture in promoting Konkani.

 

General Secretary, Mr. Ivan included the sponsors, co-sponsors, participants and all those who contributed to the success of this program in his vote of thanks.

 

The complete program was conducted by John D’souza, who was ably supported by Nirmala Fernandes.

 

Special mention for DJ Mr. Sharon Dsouza, who  played some terrific foot tapping music of Baila, of which all the members rocked the floor  at the end of the program.

 

MC in his concluding speech urged all the parents to encourage their kids and use this forum to showcase the talents.

 

A sumptuous buffet was served to all those present.
