Udupi, 14 Jul 2015: As in the previous years, keeping in mind the green revolution and to encourage cultivation in a productive manner for fine crop of rice this year too Rotary Club of Shankerpura near here organized paddy sapling planting competition. The competition was held jointly with Rotary Club of Kunjurugiri on the paddy field of Ravindra Rao, near Banatirta at Pajaka Kshetra, here on Tuesday July 14.
Out of 15 participants, 3 women were declared winners. Cash prize was handed over to the first, second and third winners. Attractive household items as consolation prizes were distributed to all participants.
To witness this event, Rotary District 3180 Zone III, past assistant governor M G Nagendra, Zonal Lieutenant Francis D’Sa, past president Jerome Rodrigues and the members of Rotary Shankerpura were present.
Ravindra Rao supervised the event with the assistance of Prakash Bhat. They expressed their happiness to Rotary Shankerpura for their good work and encouragement to rural women.
The competition was sponsored by Mark Vaz, past president and member of Rotary Shankerpura.
The prizes to the winners were distributed by Gopal Krishna Bhat, priest of Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Kunjargiri, near here.
