Mangalore, 10 January 2011: In the recent years K.S.R.T.C. Mangalore Division have expanded its service areas rapidly. Along with the ordinary buses to the rural areas, semi luxury and luxury bus services also have been included. Between Manipal – Mangalore – Kasargod Volvo buses have received good response.
Now K.S.R.T.C. Mangalore Division is introducing Volvo 6x2 multi axel buses. In Karnataka state after Bangalore, Mangalore will be the only second city to have Hi Tech government buses. Some private bus companies already have such buses. In the first phase currently two new buses between Mangalore - Mumbai (Borivili) will be starting from 10th January 2010. More six buses will be arriving to Mangalore and these will be starting the service to Pune, Hyderabad and Thirupathi very soon.
These Hi Tech buses will be 13.8 meter long and are designed to meet the comfort and luxury for long distance passengers. The foot rests with push back seats will provide comfort added with less movements says the technical sources. The buses will have 47 seats with wide quality window glasses allowing viewing of the nature. Two LCD TVs and power chargers for mobiles and lap top are also provided.
The ticket fare for Mangalore – Mumbai will be Rs. 1,100 (ordinary Volvo bus fares are Rs. 1,033), which means the Hi Tech buses will cost an additional Rs. 67 than the previous buses. The timings of the buses to Mumbai and returning back to Mangalore will be as follows.
The buses will start from Mangalore everyday afternoon at 02.00 pm and will pass through Kulshekar, Vamanjoor, Gurpura, Kikamba, Edapadau, Moodbidre (03.00 pm), Karkala (03.15 pm), Nitte, Belman, Manchakal, Katpadi, Udupi (04.00 pm), Kundapura (04.35 pm), Batkal (05.35 pm), Honnavar, Kumta (06.30 pm), Ankola (07.20 pm), Yallapura (08.20 pm), Hubli (09.20 pm), Dharvad (10.00 pm), Belgam (11.20 pm), Nippani (12.10 am), Kollapura (12.55 am), Karhada (02.00 am), Pune by pass (04.15 am) and then to Mumbai (Borivili).
From Mumbai the buses will leave in the afternoon at 12.30 pm through Pune by pass (04.30 pm), Sathara (08.10 pm), Karada (09.00 pm, Kollapura (10.00 pm), Nippani (11.00 pm), Belgam (12.20 am), Darvad (01.30 am), Hubli (01.40 am), Yallapura (01.45 am), Ankola (03.45 am), Kumta (04.25 am), Honnavar, Batkal (05.25 am), Kundapura (06.20 am), Udupi (07.00 am), Katpadi, Manchakal, Belman, Nitte, Karkala (07.35 am), Mudbidri (07.55 am), Edapadav, Kikamba (08.10 am) and to Mangalore.
