Moodubelle, 01 January 2011: Parishioners of Holy Cross Church, Pamboor who could not participate in the “Horekanike” procession that was held on Thursday, 30th December 2010 due to unavoidable reasons, made it a point to bring their ‘vojem’ of various types of vegetables, coconuts, raw bananas, plantain leaves, etc. on the New Year Day, Saturday, 1st January 2011 at 9 am.
A large number of Pamboorites led by the parish priest, Fr. Charles Lewis, who was also the former parish priest of Belle arrived in a bus and a tempo carrying the articles of ‘vojem’. From the township of Belle they walked in procession with the articles led by a mini-band, Fr. Chalres Lewis, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council-Frederick Menezes, Secretary-Mrs. Jacintha D’Souza, Maurice Noronha-retired teacher from Pamboor and Prof. Vincent Alva-lecturer at Milagres College, Kallianpur. Other eminent parishioners from Pamboor who accompanied the ‘vojem’ were Louis Martis, Mary D’Souza, Natalia Martis, Prashant Noronha, John Sequeira and many others.
On reaching the church, Fr. Charles Lewis and the group of Pamboor parishioners with ‘vojem’ were received by Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of Belle, Fr. Lancy Saldanha, assistant parish priest, Mrs. Meera Lobo, secretary of the Belle Parish Pastoral Council, a number of Gurkars and other parishioners from Belle.
Fr. Charles Lewis expressed his happiness to participate in the centenary celebrations of St. Lawrence Parish, Belle by offering the ‘Vojem’. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that he and the parishioners of Belle are overwhelmed with the goodwill and gesture of the Pamboor parish which was originally a part of Belle parish. He thanked Fr. Chales Lewis and the Pamboor parishioners for the ‘vojem’ and invited all the parishioners to participate in the ‘annasantarpane’ that will take place on Sunday, 2nd January 2011.
