Nottingham (UK): MUKA celebrates Christmas

Nottingham (UK), 27 December 2010: Mangalorean United Konkani Association (MUKA) Nottingham U.K.  Celebrated Christmas, "Natal -2010" to share the peace and joy of Christmas on 25th December 2010 at St. Theresa’s Church Hall, Aspley, Nottingham.  Vice President Mrs. Joyce Aranha welcomed the gathering and all the guests. Mr.Jerald Alvares conducted the prayer.  To give glory to God, children sang Christmas carols and presented an angel dance which was loudly applauded. This dance was well choreographed by Anitha Sequiera.

 

Santa Claus enacted by Mr. Vincent D’Souza, made everyone cheerful with his majestic entry, greeting everyone and distributing gifts to children.  Later Santa Claus gave the Christmas message and   each family took turns to get photographed with Santa. Traditional Magalorean delicious "Kuswar" with tea was distributed.  This homemade "Kuswar" was prepared and sponsored by generous Mrs. Anitha Menezes, Mr.Stany Sequiera and  Mr Vincent D’souza.

 

 

Conrad Aranha with   his melodious voice sang "Aiso Dees Kithyak Mujzo Assoye Udello" which made the gathering tap their feet bringing nostalgic memories of Konkani culture. Cultural secretary Mr Stany Sequiera presented the vote of thanks and thanked all the members for their gracious presence and active participation in this program.

 

Delicious Biryani with Raita served the appetite.  All the couples present took part in the "Couple Dance" which was followed by "Baila" dance, the special attraction of the occasion. Conrad Aranha was presented the DJ for this event.

 

The President of the association, Mr Jeevan Menezes thanked the Executive committee and all the members for their support & making this event successful also urged to continue their support for future events.  The programme was well compered by MUKA treasurer Mr Pius Rasquinha.
