Moodubelle: Annual sports day observed in St. Lawrence English Medium School

Moodubelle, 23 January 2010: The Annual Sports Day of St. Lawrence English Medium School Moodubelle was observed on Friday, 23rd January 2010 at 9.30 AM in the St. Lawrence PU College Ground. Mr. Devdas Hebbar was the chief guest of the inaugural function and Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence PU College presided over the function. Mr. Raphael Aranha, Headmaster of the Church Aided Higher primary School was the guest of honour.

Fr. Maxim D’Souza, the Principal of the St. Lawrence English medium School welcomed the guests. Fr. Paul Sequeira hoisted the school flag and Mr. Devdas Hebbar received the salute during the march past of the students and athletes and lighted the lamp signalling the inauguration of the Annual Sports Day of the School.

Students from 5th to 9th standard took part in most of the track and field events such as races of different distances, relay, high and long jumps and shot put and discus throw. Students below 5th standard participated in limited number of events.

Fr. Paul Sequeira gave away special prizes to two students of the English Medium School who had performed well at the Taluka and Zonal level. Rovita D’Souza had won the first place in the Taluka level Discus Throw and Einstein D’Souza was third at the Zonal level competition in Long Jump.

Following the sports meet, the following students were declared as the champions for the year 2009-2010:

5th Standard: Boys: Crystan Aranha, Girls: Mahima
6th and 7th Standard: Boys: Einstein D’Souza, Girls: Larissa and Seema
8th and 9th Standard: Boys: Preetham Nayak and Sharoon Raj, Girls: Ranjita
Fr. Maxim D’Souza distributed trophies to the champions of the Annual Sports Day.
The sports meet was organised by the Physical Director of the English medium School, Mr. Bharat.

Following the end of the Annual Sports Day, the School Pupil Leader (SPL) Deepak and the Sports Secretary Preetham lowered the School Flag from the flag post and handed it over to the principal of the School, Fr. Maxim D’Souza.
