Doha, 19 December 2010: Fireworks at the corniche on Saturday night, 18th December 2010, on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day illuminated the skies of Doha. At 08.00 pm in the night the spectacular array of fireworks coloured the sky and the sound of the display was equally impressive. The trees were decorated with colourful lightings.
Cheers from the huge crowds added to the sense of excitement at the Bay where thousands of citizens and expatriates, families and children gathered to be part of this incredible show. The display also celebrated the national identity of Qatar with the colours of the show reflecting the country’s maroon and white flag.
The fireworks created various images of stars and hearts across the bay at corniche and quite literally filled the sky with a sparkling and dazzling display of red, white, gold and blue among many other colours. The fireworks were special this time which mirrored the sense of excitement and pride that followed the announcement of Qatar winning the bid to host the world cup 2022.
The show was set against the backdrop of the ever evolving and impressive west bay skyline, which also focused attention on the towering symbols of economic development and unprecedented growth experienced by Qatar in recent years. It was certainly the most impressive fireworks people here ever witnessed in Doha.
