Bantwal: Leopard falls into pond, rescued & shifted to Pilikula

Bantwal, 18 Mar 2015: A leopard in a bid to prey on chicken fell into a nature pond.   The incident was reported from Valavoor near Brahmarakootlu here on Tuesday March 17.

 

The leopard fell into the pond near the house of a certain Lingappa Poojary. The leopard feasted on a rooster from a nearby household and fell into the pond while it tried to flee.

 

 

The wild beast was found firmly holding onto the pipe attached to the submersible pump and was trying to come up, when the family quickly informed the matter to forest officials and fire brigade.

 

The fire personnel and forest officials spread a huge net around the pond and placed a cage in one side. Then a ladder was dropped into the well and the animal was being provoked to climb the ladder. The leopard jumped into the cage and was later shifted to Pilikula wildlife sanctuary.
