Udupi: Christian Community Apeal on Rescheduling of Elections

Udupi, 15 December 2010: As the Zilla Panchayath and Thaluk Panchayath elections are scheduled during the celebration of Christmas and New Year, the leaders of the community have urged to reschedule the election dates.

 

The community leaders submitted the apeal on this matter through Deputy Commissioner Hemalatha P. to the Governer of Karnataka. They have mentioned the difficulties for the celebrations due to the elections which are also at the same time.

 

 

The Christian voters, Teachers, Govt. employees and Officers who will be taking part in the election activities will be deprived of the festive celebrations, said the community leaders and hence they have made this apeal for rescheduling the election dates.

 

Among the community leaders Louis Lobo, Dr. Nerry Carnelio, Boniface D’Souza, Vincent Alva, Charles Ambler and others were present.
