Moodubelle, 20 January 2010: A daring daytime robbery was reported from the house of Mrs. Juliana D’Souza ‘Ashirwad Villa’ near the Naalku Bheedhi area on Wednesday, 20th January 2010. The robbery was discovered by Mrs. Juliana D’Souza when she returned home at around 3.30PM after paying a visit to her ailing mother-in-law who has been admitted in a Manipal hospital. She had also visited her yesterday.
When Mrs. Juliana D’Souza entered the compound of her house, she found that the robbers had entered the house by removing tiles of the side roof. To her shock she found two cupboards in two separate rooms broken open and clothes scattered on the floor. The police were informed immediately who arrived on the scene of the robbery with sniffing dog and finger print experts.
Mrs. Juliana D’Souza found that the robbers had taken away one ring, one chain and one bangle that were kept inside the cupboard. Luckily for her, the money and other ornaments that she had wrapped in clothes and kept inside the cupboards were safe as the robbers might have had no idea or time to open each and every cloth that they had scattered on the floor.
As Mrs. Juliana’s husband is working abroad and her children had gone to school at Moodubelle, she locked the house and went at around 8.30 AM to Manipal to see her mother-in-law. As she had gone yesterday also at the same time, it is suspected that someone who knew about her consecutive visits to Manipal to see her ailing mother-in-law might have prompted the thieves to carry on this daring daytime robbery. The police from Shirva have taken the report and are conducting the investigation into the robbery.
