Karkala: Thrilling Traditional Kambala held at Ninjoor Grama

Ninjoor, Karkala, 11 December 2010: Thrilling traditional Shri Kshethra Kodamanithayi and Shri Kukkinandaya Daiva Kambla celebration is held in Ninjoor grama at Karkala Taluk on Thursday 09th December 2010 in the afternoon from 02.00 pm to 06.00 pm. The wet fields were prepared well in advance. People gathered at the venue to be part in the exciting event.
The event began as Jayaram Shetty welcomed the guests and all present. The occasion was presided over by Prakash Shetty - Principal, Jain Junior College Moodabedre. Dr. H. Bhaskar Shetty, Mooubelle and Gopal Bhandari, MLA of Karkala were the chief guests. Other guests present on the occasion were N. Krishnaraj Bhat – Priest of Grama Temple and M. Chandrashekara Shetty - Ninjoor Padumane Chief Manager.
Total 16 pairs of Buffalos participated in this event, in the two categories. In the senior category there were 3 pairs and in junior category there were 13 pairs. It was a thrilling competition and everyone including the spectators were excited until the end of the event. Krishnaraj Rai Kuntadi, was the judge of this competition.
In the closely contested competition, the final winners were as follows.
Senior category:
1st prize - Karkala Kabettu Vigneshwara Prasada
2nd prize - Neere Bhadra guthu Sundar Shetty.
Junior category:
1st prize - Kananjar Adamkoli Kelamane Krishna Nayak
2nd prize - Herebettu Shivaprasad Hegde.
Prizes were given away to the winners by Krishnaraj Rai, Kuntadi and Deelip Hegde, Jarkala. Chandrashekara Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
