Moodubelle, 04 December 2010: Deacon Valerian Castelino is ordained as Priest on 3rd December, 2010, at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, by Rt. Rev. Lumen Monteiro DD, the Bishop of the Diocese of Agartala, Tripura, North East. The theme of the Eucharist was “My Grace is sufficient for you”. The ordination ceremony was attended by around 500 people and about 25 priests concelebrated the solemn mass.
Fr. Valerian Castelino is a Holy Cross Priest belongs to the North Eastern Province. He did his primary, High School and Pre University studies at St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, Moodubelle. After the completion of his studies, he then joined the Holy cross Congregation in the year 1998. Fr. Valerian did his B.A. degree studies at St. Joseph’s Arts & Science College, Bangalore and then did his Bachelors in Philosophy and Theology studies at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune.
Fr. Valerian made his first vows in June, 2001 and made his Final Profession in January, 2010. He was ordained a Deacon in February, 2010 by Bishop Dabre of Pune Diocese. He did his dioconate ministry at St. Vincent De Paul Parish, Katapadi, under the guidance of Fr. Ronald Fernandes - the Parish Priest.
Fr. Valerian Castelino is son of Late Victor and Mrs. Veronica Castelino of Moodubelle. He has two elder brothers – Wilfred and Vinod, one younger brother – Vishal and a sister named veera. He comes from a pious and God-fearing family. He was sent to Tripura for a year of pastoral experience and now he is rightly appointed as Asst. Parish Priest in Kumarghat Parish, Tripura.
Fr. Valerian is a multi- talented person. He is a good singer and musician and plays guitar well. As a sports person, he plays volleyball. He was also in the basket ball team in his college days in Bangalore. His sermons were well appreciated by the parishioners of katapadi. He is simple, hardworking, loving and service-minded person. He has chosen an apt motto – “My Grace is sufficient for you”.
