Udupi: Confraternity Sunday observed with grand Eucharistic Procession at Mount Rosary Church

Udupi, 04 Jan 2015: The Confraternity Sunday, in preparation for the forthcoming Annual Parish Feast of Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte Kallianpur, was observed with a solemn mass and a grand Eucharistic procession on Sunday, 4th January 2015. A large number of parishioners actively participated with devotion and fervor in the meaningful and spiritually enriching religious service.

 

The solemn confraternity mass was celebrated by Fr Franklin D’Souza (National Youth Director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement New Delhi) along with Fr Philip Neri Aranha (parish priest), Fr Naveen D’Souza (former assistant parish priest), Fr Henry Mascarenhas (Estate Manager of Udupi Diocese) and Dn Royson.

 

Following the end of the mass, the Holy Eucharist was placed in the monstrance and the grand Eucharistic procession began. The Brass Band was followed by the Cross, altar servers and the parishioners. At the rear of the procession, the Holy Eucharist was carried by Fr Franklin D’Souza on the decorated vehicle.

 

           

 

The procession moved through the Church entrance, Kemmannu cross road, Santhekatte Bus-Stand, NH 66 and culminated in front of Hotel Megha Darshini near the National Highway. At the end of the Eucharistic procession, Fr Franklin delivered a meaningful homily in Kannada.

 

In his homily Fr Franklin  explained the significance of the Holy Eucharist and highlighted the love of God to mankind manifested through his Son Jesus Christ, who sacrificed his life on the Cross to save mankind from sin and damnation. Giving examples from the Holy Gospel, Fr Franklin stressed on the virtue of forgiveness and compassion.

 

Fr Franklin expressed concern over the increasing incidents of terrorism in the world. "Innocent persons are being targeted by terrorists. The world wants peace and compassion now more than at any other time," he said.

 

"The wars between some countries show that human beings have forgotten the path shown by God and are walking on their own paths. Jesus Christ was born for the welfare of humanity. People should follow the message given by Christ to the world and become messengers of peace."

 

A large number of devotees participated in the celebrations. It was a memorable evening of divine glorification, with hundreds of non-Christian brethren also watching the procession in rapt attention. The confraternity Sunday service ended with the Sacramental blessing.
