Bantwal, Dec 28, 2014: The state environment minister Ramanat Rai arrived at the decorated open well and fetched the water. Yes, its how minister Rai inaugurated environmental programme, ‘Land – water bodies – love environment for sustenance of mankind’ held at ZP Government Higher Primary School, Keddalike, near here on Sunday December 28.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Rai said, ‘These kinds of environmental awareness programmes are indeed welcome for its greater impact. There is greater need to organize such programmes in all state-run schools in Karnataka,’ said minster Rai.

The students held mass environment awareness programme as part of annual day celebration on Sunday December 28, by means of folk singing, dances, skits, Yakshagana play, slogans etc. There was a kiosk of Children’s Rights publicity. The students prepared food from nature’s resources, welcomed the dignitaries traditionally by offering beetle-leaves-arecanut stashed plates, held interactive meet with parents.
The retired lecturer Rajamani Ramakunja in his talk on environmental awareness said that nature is essential for sustenance of mankind, if its destroyed human life is in danger is in danger.
Jana Shikshana Trust director Sheena Shetty said that Keddalike School has set an example for the nation for environmental awareness programme at the sideline of their annual day celebration. He also said, ‘A little spark ignited by Keddalike School hope it becomes a nationwide campaign for the sustenance of environment,’ said Shetty.
TP member B Padmashekar Jain, Kavalamudoor gram panchayat president Yacqoub, retired Tahsildar Lokesh Keddalike, Krishna Moolya, primary school teachers Association district president Shivashankar Bhat, group resource person Jaya K, entrepreneur Jagannat Shetty Keddalike, gram panchayat member Sunanda, Vishwanat Shetty and others were present.
School betterment Committee president Divakar Das welcomed the gathering. The teacher Chandappa Poojary compered the programme.
