Mangaluru, 30 Nov 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport seized 2000.000 grams of gold on Saturday November 29, valued at over Rs 52 lac in the form of 2 numbers of 1 kilograms gold bars each concealed separately in 2 mobile phone pouches and kept together in a polythene Dubai Duty Free carry bag, on the floor beneath row chairs placed adjacent to Flemingo Duty Free Shop situated in the arrival hall of Mangalore International Airport.
The passenger twenty-six-year-old Abdul Manaf Akkoth is a resident of Akkoth House, Madavoor Post, Narikuni Via, Kozhikode district, Kerala, who arrived at Mangalore International Airport on Saturday November 29 at about 8.40am by Jet Airways flight number 9W531 from Dubai.
Two persons who work at Airport named Ratheesh of Flemingo Duty Free Shop and B S Nijeesh Raj, who is working as a salesman in 2 o firms that is Words & Worth Book Shop as well as Teaicoff Snack Bar have also helped him in this smuggling activities.
Ratheesh and B S Nijeesh Raj are from South Kerala. All 3 accused have been arrested and produced before the court here on Sunday November 30. They were remanded into judicial custody.
