Puttur, 26 Nov 2014: St Philomena College, National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, here organized weeklong annual special camp at Panaje Higher Primary School, here from November 24 to November 30, with the motto ‘Healthy Youngsters for the Healthy County.’
The camp was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada Milk Federation director Narayan Nayak.
Narayan Nayak in his inaugural address said, ‘Our youngsters should not be a slave of anybody. They should be self made. All the youngsters should work sincerely and take up the responsibility of developing our society.’
The chief guest of the function, the chairman of St Philomena College of PG Studies and Research Centre, Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro called on the students to be a good citizen by imbibing good values and set an example for the rest.
Spekaing on the occasion, Panaje gram panchayat president Bharathi Shivappa said, ‘NSS camp helps in the overall personality development of the students. This activity of group living for 7 days will help the students gain collective experience sharing, sharing responsibilities and also respect others point of view.’
Professor Leo Noronha in his presidential address wished the students good luck and told them to make the best use out of this camp.
SDMC president Satya Narayan Adiga, Panaje primary health centre resident medical officer Dr Krishnamurti and Panaje Higher Primary School head teacher Janaki participated in the programme.
During the camp various activities will be conducted for the students which will help them in learning to confront the real life problems and they will also be created awareness about the community around them and their responsibilities towards it.
