Karkal, Nov 03, 2014: The much-awaited experimental Kambala, iconic buffaloes’ race that was organized by Kambala Committee to test the practicalities of new rules began at Miyar, near here on Sunday November 2 night was concluded on Monday November 3 at 8.00am. It was indeed successful as that of annual Kambala event. The experimental Kambala was held ahead of season to study the endurance of buffaloes’ and to gauge the patronage of Kambala-enthusiasts in the coming season, possibilities of winners of different buffalo breeds.
A total of 30 buffalo pairs competed in 2 categories in the first round of league competitions that has created much interest among Kambala-enthusiasts. It also set an opportunity to test the stamina of buffalo handlers in competing with same pair of buffaloes several times.
In the rope senior division league, among 16 pairs of buffaloes, the buffalo pair owned by Nandalike Srikant Bhat, Attur Gundyadka Bola Srinivas Kamat – A, Mala Anand Nilaya Shekar Shetty and Karkal Jeevandas Adyantaya B won first place in 3 competitions bagging 15 points, while Kolake Irvattur Bhaskar Kotian A and B, Palimar Aggadakalia Ganesh Devadiga and Attur Gundyadka Srinivas Kamat competed in the league to reach 8 stage. Later, the usual competitions were held.
In the senior plough division, among 14 pairs of buffalos – Boladaguttu, Panolibail, Neere Bhadraguttu, Morla Girish Alva, Renjala Bailangady, Kundadka Muravala, Iruvail Panila, Panolibail Bandaramane reached stage 8.
A and B buffalo pair of Hankarajalu Bheemanna Shetty bagged the first place in cross plank division, while none of 3 pairs of buffalo were successful in bagging the prize in straight plank division.
In rope senior division: Nandalike Srikant Bhat owned buffalo pair bagged first place (handler Nakre Jayakar Madiwala) and Karkal Jeevandas Adyantaya (handler Hokkadigoli Suresh Shetty) bagged the second place.
Attur Gundyadka Bola Srinivas Kamat and Mala Anand Nilaya Shekar A Shetty owned buffalo pair reached first place. Kantavar Bandottu Nikhil Mokshi Kumar owned buffalo pair (handler Guruprasad Kotian) bagged the first place and Jappu Munku Totaguttu Anit Shetty owned buffalo pair (handler Marnad Rajesh) bagged the second place.
Padubidri Padebettu Anni Shetty and Kukkundoor Nandikumer Yuvaraj Shetty owned buffalo pair reached semi final. Boladaguttu Satish Shetty owned buffalo pair bagged the first place and Renjala Kudrady Vidyanand Hegde owned buffaloe pair bagged the second place in lower plough division. Maroor Sheetottu Sundary Anni Poojary and Bangady Mallige Mane Kasim Saheb owned buffalo pairs reached semi final.
In higher plough division, the buffalo pair owned by Iruvail Panila Bada Poojary (handler Kolake Irvattur Anand) bagged the first place and Boladaguttu Satish Shetty owned buffalo pair (handler Hokkadigoli Suresh Shetty) bagged the second place.
The buffalo pairs owned by Panolibail Bandaramane Navin Kumar reached the semi final.
