Mangalore, 06 November 2010: Grand “Goodudeepa” competition was organized by Namma Kudla organization on Thursday at Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Kshetra, Kudroli. The program was inaugurated by Urmila Ramesh. Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh initiated the Goodudeepa competition.
Over 600 goodu deepas of various design and type were at display. This competition is being help by Namma Kudla every year. Thousands of People especially women from various places thronged at the temple to witness the exhibition of the traditional lights. Deepas of various kinds, sizes and shapes, attracted the visitors on the occasion. Models of temples and monuments and the like were special attractions.
“Tulu Sangeetha Vibhava” a cultural program was also arranged by Namma Kudla. Famous drummer Rajesh M. and his group ‘Voice of Music’ gave a vibrant performance of tulu music. Also dance programs by Dinesh Athavar, Vibhavlaxmi and the poplular Mayuri Ullal entertained the large audiences.
Guests and dignitaries present on the occasion were S. H. Sayram - President of Management Committee of Kshetra, Raghavendra Kulur - Vice President, Padmaraj – Secretary, Dr. B. G. Suvarna – Trustee, B. P. Karkera – Founder President of Namma Kudla, Harish Karkera – Director, Mohan Karkera, Suresh Karkera and Leelaksh Karkera.
All winners in the competition were given fabulous prizes. The program was compeered by Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, Baskar Rai Kakkuvali and Ramesh Kotyan.
